Our "Kinda" Colorado Vacation

Welll this was the summer vacation that pretty much didn't happen....

yes...you can see pictures here that we REALLY were at the cabin and the ranch
in Colorado.  What you can't see.....is a clock....that we got there Thursday night at 7:00,
played in the creek, made beds and sat on the back porch...watching smoke from far away not too concerened about it.

Woke up the next day.....played in the creek, saw 4 deers off the back porch first thing in the morning
and went a little hike down the creek at the lower ponds.  Came home to a quick
sandwich lunch....got a call that we needed to evacuate the ranch.

In less than 24 hours we were already packing up and leaving.
Drove 3 1/2 hours to Gunnison, praying the whole way, that
we would find a room....because of all fires down around South Fork and people there
having been evacuated earlier in the day.

Thank you Jesus, we found a hotel...with a pool.  We stayed at the Quality Inn and it was
nice...pool was FREEEZING!!

We did eat a great dinner at Ol' Miners Steakhouse in Gunnison...very good!!!

Drove home  all day Saturday.
If I never drive Monarch Pass again in my life that will be fine!!!!
It was scary!!  And then before we weven made it to the summit,
Hannalee had to stop on the side of the road to go potty....then JJ decided HE had to potty
at the same time....he about fell down the mountain....

it was a crazy not-so-much-vacation.

Next post about what we DID get to do, in Oklahoma, instead of be in our cool mountains.

  1. Well, it was fun for a minute or two. Hopefully, the kids didn't know it was awful.
